It’s Social Media Week … what better time to unveil our latest e-Book: The Grande Guide to the Social CMO.

One of our clients, Bazaarvoice, in concert with The CMO Club, recently published an epic report: CMOs on Social Marketing Plans for 2011.   The (free) study contains dozens of tweet-worthy gems, but perhaps no nugget more golden than this: 90% of CMOs participate in three or more social marketing activities.

Here’s an excerpt from the Bazaarvoice blog:

Companies are willing to try social before making the bottom-line connection
Despite not being able to locate direct ties to established business metrics, nearly all CMOs in our study—90%—said their brands were engaged in three or more social activities. Business participation was extremely high in company blogs, brand communities and Facebook.

This is a great start.  Blogs, communities and Facebook are hubs for any social media wheel.  But is there more we can achieve over these channels?  What other technologies (e.g., geosocial) exist, and how can they be incorporated into the media mix?  What about SlideShare?  How does that ultra-important network fit into a strategic social media plan?  In other words, how can current activities be combined with new tools and networks to maximize awareness and revenue performance?  Enter: The Grande Guide to the Social CMO.  It’s a guide to social media essentials, written entirely for the marketing leader in an organization, whether that title is Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Revenue Officer or VP of marketing.  (We used CMO because it saves characters, the most precious Twitter commodity.)

The Grande Guide to the Social CMO is available here.  (You can also find it, sans form, on our SlideShare channel.) It combines updated content from our award winning social media playbook; compelling case studies from Ford and SCVNGR; actionable infographics from JESS3, Eloqua and Flowtown; expert commentary from BzzAgent CEO Dave Balter and The Mirror Test author (and celebrity CMO) Jeffrey Hayzlett; and a whopper of a resources section.

Simply put, it’s everything top marketers need to know to maximize their 3+ social identities, and maybe even build a few new ones along the way.  We’d love to hear your thoughts.  Download the Grande Guide to the Social CMO and let us know what you think.
